Margarita of the Month: August

As we so wisely noted in July, summer is in full swing, and fresh fruit and berries are abundant, so let’s make a berry-licious drink this month!

Blueberry Margarita

1.5 Cups Frozen Blueberries (see note below)

3 Oz Silver Tequila

1.5 Oz Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)

0.5 Oz Lime Juice

2 Oz Simple Syrup

Put all the ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. You may want to add more syrup or lime to your personal taste. If you want a more frozen-style beverage, blend in a few ice cubes as well.  Makes 2 generous drinks… just enough for me…

Rim the glass with sugar if desired (if nothing else, it sure makes it pretty!). If you want you can garnish with a few fresh blueberries and/or a thin slice of lime.

Note: I started with fresh blueberries that I washed and removed any small stems and then froze overnight. If you freeze the blueberries you can come out with a slightly slushy drink without having to add ice cubes (which also waters down the drink). If you don’t have time or desire to freeze the fruit, you can just use the fresh berries and add ice cubes to the blender if you want a frozen drink. Also you could simply blend all the ingredients and serve over ice, it won’t exactly be horrible!

Looks Dang Tasty! And it is!

Drink up (responsibly, of course)! And with all the purported health benefits and wonderful antioxidant effects of blueberries, we can even pretend this to be a healthy margarita! We’re back to the bar to start working on next month’s beverage! Life is so hard….
