So long, and thanks for all the fish…

November 20, 2010

and the beef, pork, lamb, cheese…

and of course beverages…

well you get the idea…

The 2010 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival has come and gone – it was a tasty, fun and an all too quick six weeks!

The Harem and I were fortunate to be there for at least part of each week of the festival, from opening day and the first running of the Wine & Dine Half-Marathon on the first weekend in October until the final day of the event in the middle of November.

There were many special events, dinners, tastings, signings…

and of course what is for most people the core of the event, the food and drink kiosks circling the World Showcase lagoon.

There were many ups, a few downs, but mostly just a great time for all in attendance.

And as usual, the best part was being able to share the fun with great friends, new and old!

What happens at Food & Wine, stays at Food & Wine... unless you blog about it...

We’ll recount many of the experiences during the festival over the coming weeks (who are we kidding, I’ll probably milk this for material until right before next year’s festival…).

Look for a quick highlight (and maybe lowlight) overview soon, with more detailed posts on some special events to follow.

For those of you who were in attendance we hope you’ll enjoy reliving some of the experiences (and we hope you’ll chime in with your comments), and for those of you who weren’t able to attend (and it must suck to be you…), we hope you’ll enjoy living vicariously through our culinary adventures.

We doff our proverbial hat to Epcot Executive Chef Jens Dahlmann (who we saw many times “down in the trenches” hard at work around the World Showcase) and to all the full and part-time Epcot castmembers who did yeoman work trying and put on the best event they possibly could for their many guests.

For us here at Eating (and Drinking) Around the World, the countdown to the 2011 festival has begun, and already we can’t wait!

With apologies to the late, great Douglas Adams…
