Margarita of the Month: April, 2014 – Tommy’s Margarita

While flipping around the TV dial recently, I came across a show on the new Esquire network entitled “Best Bars in America”, so of course there was no way I couldn’t check it out…

One of their stops was for a legendary margarita at Tommy’s Mexican restaurant in San Francisco. There they had a simple, straight-forward drink that relies simply on good tequila to produce a superior drinking experience… and you can have the same at home… so let’s make a drink!

Nothing too fancy here...

Nothing too fancy here…

4 oz  100% Agave Tequila (I used silver here, but give it a try with a more aged one if you so desire)

1 1/2 oz  Fresh Lime Juice

3/4 oz  Agave Nectar

3/4 oz  Water

If you wish a salted rim (and I do), prepare your glass now.

Put all the ingredients listed above into a shaker with plenty of ice and shake until good and cold.

Add fresh ice to your glass and strain the drink atop same… have a sip… enjoy…

Sometimes the simplest things are the best… use a good tequila and fresh lime and you’ll be very happy with this one.

This makes two strong, delicious drinks – take your time and savor…

Back to the bar, see you soon!
